FAQ

The most frequently asked questions about 3D VSP

As a physician, it is important to always seek new technologies and innovations to provide your patients with the best possible care. A relatively new and groundbreaking technology that has gained increasing attention in recent years is 3D Virtual Surgical Planning (VSP).

3D Virtual Surgical Planning (VSP) is a technology that enables doctors to create three-dimensional models of a patient’s anatomy, which can be used for preoperative planning and surgical simulations. This helps reduce intraoperative complications and can lead to better surgical outcomes.

To ensure that every physician has access to 3D VSP in their daily practice, we look for a personalized solution. All our systems are designed to ensure that data exchange and communication can take place securely and remotely. We are happy to visit and work together to assess what is available and what is needed for proper imaging, data exchange, and information security.

3D VSP begins with creating the appropriate imaging in consultation. These images can then be shared with us via our secure platform. Once we receive the data, we immediately begin creating the virtual plan. The 3D VSP is then developed collaboratively through a (digital) meeting. After this consultation, we will send a comprehensive plan, along with any surgical guides and anatomical models, to the desired address.

3D VSP is a relatively new technology and is currently not applied in all medical fields. Common areas include maxillofacial surgery, orthopedics, and ENT (ear, nose, and throat). However, we are eager to review and collaborate on every request to see how 3D VSP can provide added value.

By preparing and visualizing the medical procedure, a surgeon enters the operation with thorough preparation. Mapping out anatomical structures, such as the location of nerves in the lower jaw, ensures that the surgeon is well-prepared for what they will encounter during the operation.
