Alloplastic implants

Alloplastic facial implants require an advanced approach within aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. Implant placement aims to improve aesthetics and restore facial contours.

Alloplastic implants give the opportunity to improve specific aesthetic features, such as the shape of the jaw angles, the shape of the chin or the projection of the cheekbones. This creates a more harmonious and, for example, more youthful appearance.

Aesthetics play an important role in the self-confidence and general well-being of individuals. Alloplastic implants provide a solution for patients who are dissatisfied with certain facial features or want to restore the youthful appearance of their face.

The process begins with a comprehensive evaluation of facial proportions, aesthetic features and the patient’s specific needs. Using advanced 3D imaging technologies, a detailed image of the facial anatomy is obtained, allowing the treatment team to determine the best approach to achieve the desired aesthetic results.

Based on this evaluation, alloplastic implants can be designed specifically for each patient’s anatomy and needs. These implants are made of biocompatible materials such as PEEK or medical titanium, which can be safely implanted in the face without risk of rejection. It is also possible to find out together if there is an existing series product, which is not custom-made but fits the patient as well as possible. Series products are generally a bit cheaper than patient-specific products.

During surgery, implants are carefully placed at strategic pre-planned locations on the face to achieve the desired aesthetic improvements. This may include enlarging the jaw angles, improving the projection of the cheekbones, defining the chin and other areas to create a more symmetrical, youthful and balanced facial profile.

The use of 3D-planned alloplastic implants offers a number of advantages, including improved precision, customisation and predictability of results. By performing virtual planning prior to surgery, surgeons can accurately position implants and visualise aesthetic improvements before the procedure takes place.

At 3D VSP, we strive to provide our patients with a personalised and high-quality care experience, focusing on achieving natural and balanced aesthetic results. Our experienced team of specialists combines advanced technologies with a deep understanding of aesthetic principles to enhance facial beauty and harmony and increase our patients’ self-assurance.

PEEK implants can also serve as a second solution in addition to a previous surgery. In the image above, the implants are planned so that they can be placed over the titanium plates. The first surgery with titanium plates had not yet given the desired effect, hence the decision to supplement with PEEK implants.

A common application of alloplastic implants; correcting an asymmetry in the bone contour, by placing a jaw angle implant.

Virtual planning always looks at the whole face, to make it harmonious as a whole. The relationship between the cheekbones and jaw angles is one of the aspects that is looked at, and which we can surgically change as was done in this case.
Implant placement can also be done as an alternative to an osteotomy. In this case, cheekbone implants were chosen instead of a cheekbone osteotomy.
